Dirk Voelkel is the Vice President of Innovation at Cytiva (formerly GE Life Sciences). He and his team work to make more accurate healthcare and unveil ways of using technology to benefit patients, researchers, and clinicians.
He also does Innovation Management to ensure a top design and user experience for Cytiva’s customers, R&D portfolio management, and coaches in innovation for R&D teams.
Dirk has lived in Germany, California, Sweden, and speaks three languages – which was of immense benefit as a tech scout in San Francisco in the early 2000s.
With several patents for his many inventions, he earned his doctorate and diploma in Physics from the University of Göttingen. He did his research in the laser spectroscopy field in the mid-IR at the Max Planck Institute for Fluid Dynamics and Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA.
